Apple has reportedly shipped a total of 250 million iPhones since its launch back in 2007, earning approximately $150 billion in revenues off iPhones since their launch.
According to a new report from Strategy Analytics, a lot of the revenue Apple has made from iPhone has come from hardware sales, whilst the iTunes App Store (launched in 2008) also generates a significant amount of Apple’s revenue.
Since the launch of the iPhone, Apple’s smartphone has taken off and reshaped the mobile phone industry as we know it, with the iTunes App Store bringing about the current App craze.
Apple dominated the smartphone market for a large period of time but was recently passed by Samsung as the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world.
