Apple iOS 6 – Apple removing features

Generally with a software update, companies tend to introduce new features and bug fixes. Rarely do we see them remove features without mentioning they’ve done so.

Last night I discovered that Apple had removed one important feature from Mail on iOS 6 – the ability to mark all emails.

Now I remember clearly in iOS 5 that it was available. For someone like myself, email functionality is most definitely one of the key features on my device.

On average I receive between 150 and 300 emails every day, some automatically generated and others offering significant business opportunities. Google Apps has proven to be a lifesaver for me, allowing me to use UKMR email with the power and functionality of Gmail.

Using lists, filters and labels, managing such a large amount of email on a daily basis is easy. Except with iOS 6 it’s not, as under a label set up for auto emails (such as Twitter), I can’t mark all as read and have to manually select them.

For me (and I would imagine for some companies and people as well) this is definitely a deal breaker. Alongside Apple Maps, Apple definitely have some work to do on iOS 6.

Have you noticed other features removed in iOS 6? Let us know in the comments.
