The dust has finally settled on last night’s Windows Phone Summit announcement, which saw Microsoft unveil their new Windows Phone 8 Apollo mobile operating system.
One of the key pieces of information to come out of the announcement was that existing Windows Phone Mango (including the Lumia range) would not be getting a full Windows Phone 8 upgrade.
Instead, Microsoft revealed the devices will get a Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade, offering up some of the cool new features (such as the redesigned homescreen) but not the full experience.
Nokia USA has revealed that update will be coming to the US Lumia 900 in a “matter of weeks” and that the update will feature “the elements of WP8 that aren’t tied to the new hardware“.
What will the update include? Who knows but here’s a video showing off the 7.8 updated homescreen on the Lumia 900.
