Founder of computer firm Acer, Stan Shih, said that the PC industry needed to add value in order to tackle the growth in the tablet industry, led by Apple’s iPad.
According to Mr Shih, Acer’s upcoming tablet, which features a 7-inch screen, would take advantage of consumer requirements for a low-priced, convenient product.
However, Ben Reitzes, of Barclays Capital, takes an opposing view stating that he expects tablet computers to further weaken the laptop market this year.
Earlier this week, Samsung’s 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet launched in the UK, and is rumoured to be the fastest selling tablet since the iPad 2. Samsung seem to be rather successful in launching new products after their Samsung Galaxy SII smartphone broke records.
