O2 are launching a new flagship retail store in Oxford Street, London according to hoardings put up by the UK network. Situated between Oxford Circus and Bond Street tube stations, the new store will be competing with the Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone flagship stores which are on the same stretch.
The new store may incorporate the retail format found in the company’s Tottenham Court Road store, which features the Business Centre or may be completely different. The Tottenham Court Road store features a dedicated Business Centre with meeting rooms, desk space, wireless internet, a function area and the Guru Bar. The new store looks a little narrow from the outside, but with multiple floor space available, the company should be able to implement their retail plans.
The new store could also be used for brand concessions, such as the Samsung Store-in-a-Store concept further down Oxford Street or the Samsung Smartphone Cafe in the Carphone Warehouse flagship (more on that later today). A dedicated section where manufacturers can either sponsor or take over would allow them to offer a prime piece of retail area for companies to offer consumer focused initiatives.
We’re yet to hear more on the new layout or the potential opening date but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out. As for later today, we’re going to be bringing you live coverage of the Galaxy SIII smartphone launch in London, with coverage kicking off at 6pm; you can follow all that here.
