Google Play hits 25 billion downloads, launches 25cent app sale

Google Play has now reached 25 billion downloads and Google have kicked off a special 25-cent app sale. The sale will see many popular apps and games, including titles from Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio and more, available for just 25 cents for the next 5 days.

Alongside the monster sale, Google will also be offering collections such as 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and 25 top selling magazines, all at a special rate.

In the official blogpost, Jamie Rosenberg, Director for Digital Content at Google, also announced that Google Play is now home to 675,000 apps and games. To put it into context, 25 billion is the “the amount of time, in minutes, that have passed since some of our earliest ancestors began to set foot in Europe.
